June 2010

Welcome to the first edition of the KTF Newsletter. We plan to publish every month except August and December with the purpose of keeping existing users informed about new features and updates in KTF and KeyGML software and to give potential users an idea of just how good these applications are for a broad range of Survey, Civil, Environmental and Mapping applications. We will also be taking the opportunity to promote Bricscad and intend to let everyone know that there is now a great alternative to AutoCAD with Bricscad V10 Pro.

News headlines

At last - an affordable alternative to AutoCAD!
Bricscad V10 Pro is available from KeyTERRA-FIRMA Ltd. at under £500.00 per license including year 1 maintenance. Developed by Bricsys in Belgium, Bricscad is easy to use and existing AutoCAD users can quickly convert to it thanks to Bricscad's familiar interface and "working in .dwg" (just like AutoCAD). Bricscad is a real alternative to AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT. Most importantly Bricscad is a platform that KTF and KeyGML support.

See www.keycivil.com/products/bricscad.shtml and download a copy for evaluation. As Bricsys Partners in the UK we are able to supply licenses and welcome any questions by phone or email. Four out of five recent new KTF users chose Bricscad to run their KTF on.

KTF and AutoCAD 2011

Latest versions of KTF 7.10 and KeyGML 3.10 work within AutoCAD 2011. Existing users with up to date maintenance can download the latest versions from www.keycivil.com/downloads.

OS OpenData
We have started to work with some of the new free data products from Ordnance Survey and latest versions of KTF include a Land-Form Panorama (DTM) reader to enable model creation (this is 50 metre grid data so useful for ZVI projects) and a new menu item to help with adding OS Street View files into the drawing. See www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/products.

Did you know?

Just like AutoCAD and Bricscad users, many experienced KTF users may not be aware of a range of useful features that are now included. In future editions of this Newsletter we will highlight some of them but if you want to get the most out of your investment in KTF and KeyGML, we recommended that you attend one of our customised Training Programs.

  • KTF has unique, powerful and abundant section functions.
  • You do not have to even buy KTF - why not hire on a monthly basis?
  • KTF is used by many leading Civil and Environmental Consultants in the UK.
  • The base cost of KTF Service Agreement renewal has remained the same as it was 12 years ago.
Drawing of the month

We are always pleased to see examples of project work where KTF has been used to good effect and will be pleased to showcase suitable drawings here in future editions. This first one is from Crestwood Environmental in Wolverhampton www.crestwoodenvironmental.co.uk. To see the drawing click here.
