The KTF Design module combines Horizontal and Vertical Alignment design with powerful 3D String Design functions. Suitable for new roads, junctions, widenings, improvements and roundabouts plus car parks & sports pitches. KTF Urban functions expanded including Tutorial and Sequence documentation with KTF 7.

Vertical Alignment Design takes place on long sections created from the Ground Model. Routines ensure that vertical curve geometry is easily defined with alternative Vertical alignments associated with the horizontal design. One Vertical Alignment is represented simply as a 2D Polyline on the section. Simple functions to help with Drainage design have been added in KeyTERRA-FIRMA six in addition to the MicroDrainage link that automatically draws drainage details onto the long section from WinDes files.

Flexible String Design features combine the Horizontal and Vertical Alignments to output 3D Polylines representing channel lines etc., Report files, Design long sections (channels) and Design cross sections. A dynamic viewer shows the relationship between existing ground and the design by “cruising along the new road”. Turning heads and other 2D geometry are represented as 2D Polylines and simply converted into 3D by specified gradient from the Master String.
