The ZVI (Zone of Visual Impact) module has been in serious use throughout the UK for over ten years. In the early years most projects were wind turbine based but the current trend is for the software to also be used for proposed residential and industrial developments. For users of AutoCAD Civil 3D our ZVI module is now available as an “add on” and includes the KTF colour mapping module to ensure that results are presented as easily and effectively as possible. ZVI line of sight geometry

Starting within a drawing with a suitable surface (created from OS Land-Form PROFILE DTM in Great Britain for example) a simple sequence to build a list of targets and visual barriers is followed. After running the analysis the results may be displayed with a Civil 3D Surface Style of your choice or KTF Colour mapping.

Colours in this map are based on visibility to a windfarm. In the coloured areas the turbines are visible, the deeper the red colour gets the more turbines are visible. Image produced from KTF ZVI results with raster image editing software
